Older couple reviewing their estate planning documents together

Passing your wealth to your family

You've spent a lifetime building your wealth. With the right plan, more of it goes to the people you love.

Do you know what your current inheritance tax liability is?

Do you know what options are available to reduce it? Are the right steps already in place, or is this something you’ve been meaning to look into?

For most people, the answer is that they’re not sure, or they’ve assumed it doesn’t apply to them. With property values where they are, it affects more families than you’d think.

IHT planning takes time. That’s the main reason to start early.

The clients who come to us for inheritance tax planning tend to share a similar story. They’ve worked hard, paid off the mortgage, maybe sold a business or inherited something. Their estate has grown, and now a significant chunk of what they’ve built could go to HMRC rather than to their family.

Financial advisor discussing inheritance tax planning with a couple

Don't just take our word for it

Over 50 five-star Google reviews. Here's what our clients say.

"Moved my pension for Mike to manage several years ago and it has performed brilliantly thanks to his decisions. Mike's communication and service is second to none. I recommend everyone to get in touch with him and his team. "

"We’ve been using Chameleon Financial Planning to manage our pensions and general finances, and the experience has been fantastic. Every member of staff is incredibly helpful and professional, but a special mention has to go to Mike, who has been brilliant. It’s a huge relief to know our future is in such capable hands. Highly recommended!"
Michelle Riley
"Put off speaking to a financial advisor for far too long. Was given Chameleon's contact details and took that step towards getting help. The process was easy. Everything was clearly explained, no pressure, worked to my timetable, reassuring throughout and happy with the results. Would highly recommend. Everyone is so helpful and professional."
Growth Lancashire
"Mike has been advising us for some years now and has always shown care and interest in our finances. The reviews we have are regular and explained in a very understanding way. I would recommend Chameleon Financial planning based on our experience so far. We are very happy."

How we work with you

Here's exactly what working with us looks like.

Discovery

We meet to understand your situation, your current financial position, your goals, and your attitude to risk. We explain our services and how we charge. This stage is always at our expense.

Strategy

Once we have everything we need, we build your bespoke financial strategy report. This includes a lifetime cash flow model of your estate, a clear picture of your financial future, year by year.

Recommendations

We arrange a meeting to present our recommendations in detail. We treat every client as we would our own family, explaining everything in plain English.

Track

Once recommendations are in place, we set you up on your Personal Financial Folder (PFF) and/or Personal Financial Portal (PFP) so you can see your financial picture at any time.

Review

We meet regularly to review your plan, check you’re on track, and make adjustments as your life or circumstances change.

How we help you pass more of your wealth to your family

We start by understanding your full position, then build a plan that works now and adapts as legislation and your circumstances change.

Before we recommend anything, we need to understand where you stand.

Every client’s position is different. We look at the full estate: property, savings, investments, pensions, business interests. Any recent gifts, any expected inheritance, and what your intentions are. Some people want to reduce their IHT liability as far as possible. Others care more about staying flexible and keeping control while they’re alive. We build the plan around what matters to you.

Gifting, trusts, and certain investment structures all need years to work properly. The earlier you start, the more you can do. But even if you’re coming to this later, there’s almost always something worth doing.

Legislation in this area changes regularly. There have been significant updates in recent years that have affected many existing plans. One advisor who knows your situation means that when legislation changes, we contact you, explain what it means, and adjust the plan.

  • Calculating your current inheritance tax position and projected liability
  • Gifting strategies and annual gifting allowances
  • Trusts, and whether they’re right for your circumstances
  • Whole of life policies written in trust to cover an IHT liability
  • Business Property Relief and Agricultural Property Relief where applicable
  • Working alongside your solicitor and accountant so everything joins up
  • Ongoing reviews as legislation and personal circumstances change
  • A full inheritance tax calculation showing your current position and projected liability
  • A recommendation report explaining what we’re putting in place and why
  • Coordination with your solicitor and accountant where needed, so nothing falls through the gaps
  • Ongoing reviews as legislation changes, so your plan stays current and continues to work

You'll work with one advisor. Who stays on top of the changes.

IHT legislation changes regularly. New rules affect existing plans. An advisor who already knows your full estate, your intentions, and your family’s situation can respond quickly when things shift, rather than you having to explain everything from scratch. At Chameleon, you work with the same person throughout. When the rules change, we’ll be in touch.
